Cassville is the "City of Seven Valleys." Yes, there really are seven valleys, and a few of the old-timers can still tell you where they are. There is no mistaking the awesome natural beauty of the wooded mountains, rolling fields, creeks, and streams that surround Cassville.
Historically, Cassville's main street was once known as the "Old Wire Road," which followed the first telegraph line in 1859. Both Union and Confederate troops used the route during the Civil War, and between October 31 to November 7, 1861, Cassville served as the Confederate capital of Missouri.
